Dembow is a producer-and-vocalist scene rather than an album scene. Careers are built on a high release rate, and reputations rest on how often an artist's records survive in rotation rather than on how they perform in a single chart week.
Don Miguelo

El Alfa
The artist most responsible for dembow's international visibility in the late 2010s. His delivery — high, rhythmically aggressive, instantly identifiable — became a reference point for a generation of vocalists, and his collaborations pulled the genre into rooms it had not previously entered.
Rochy RD
A harder, more street-facing register, favoured by listeners who wanted dembow at its least polished. His records travel well into gym and training content, where the abrasiveness is the point.
Chimbala
The melodic end of the scene. Chimbala's records are among the most likely to cross over to non-dembow listeners, because they keep the rhythm while adding hooks a casual audience can hold onto after one listen.
Braulio Fogón, Yailin and the newer wave
The current generation is faster-moving and more online. Careers can be built and stalled in a single quarter, and the scene's turnover rate is one reason dembow keeps sounding current: nobody can coast on a two-year-old hit.
The producers

Where football fits
Squad playlists tend to favour the melodic end — Chimbala, later Don Miguelo — while edits favour the hardest available material. The two use cases pull in opposite directions, which is why the dembow playlist guide treats them as separate builds.
